Dual IPO Made Easier: Malaysia-Hong Kong Listings

Quick Answer: The Securities Commission Malaysia and Hong Kong’s SFC have launched a simplified framework allowing companies to make a single coordinated submission for simultaneous listings on Bursa Malaysia and the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong. This cuts red tape and opens cheaper cross-border fundraising for Malaysian and Hong Kong firms looking to tap both markets at once.

The SC and SFC’s coordinated framework removes duplicative submissions for dual listings, effective from 30 September.

On 30 September, the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) and the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong (SFC) activated a new single-submission framework for simultaneous IPO listings. The agreement, signed on 23 July, lets companies apply just once instead of managing separate regulatory filings in each jurisdiction.

Companies seeking primary listing on either the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong (SEHK) main board or Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd main market can now simultaneously list on the other exchange as a secondary listing using one centralized submission.
